    We are currently looking for a Merchandise Planner to join our Tribe!

    Responsibilities

    The Merchandise Planner will develop, execute, and communicate strategic merchandise financial plans.  They will partner with Merchants and Allocators in driving and maximizing sales and margin.

     

    • Develop, in partnership with their Merchant, the six-month Seasonal Merchandise Plans for their respective areas of responsibility and with respect to the company’s financial goals and targets.
    • Partner with the Merchant and Allocator on managing the Monthly Business Review (MBR) process through the development of sales, margin, receipt and inventory forecasts, supporting these forecasts with unit projections, and reporting unit performance and forecasts and receipt issues during the MBR meetings.
    • Manage the receipts and inventory against targeted weeks of supply objectives and partner with Merchants to recommend actions that drive sales and maximize gross margin by ensuring best receipt flow.
    • Partner with Merchant to develop an assortment to maximize sales and margin for each buy period, ensuring the appropriate costs, retails and number of customer choices to achieve each period’s targets.
      • Determine presentation and unit quantities to buy and to reorder (to the color and size levels), which will effectively maximize the ability of the Retail channel to maximize sales and margin for each buy period.
    • Develop and manage markdown, promotional and exit strategies for seasonal programs to effectively mitigate aged inventory.
    • Conduct periodic reviews with the Allocator for the following to ensure that buy quantities and stock levels meet current sales trends:
      • Store rankings and indices.
      • Basic stock replenishment items, existing quantities and models by store.
      • Size selling and sizing by store.
      • Conduct monthly allocation strategy meetings.
    • Develop Weekly Unit Plans for major programs and Key Items to determine sales goals, to ensure adequate stock to meet fixture fills and goals, to maintain a healthy weeks of supply during the full-life price of the merchandise, and to effectively monitor these elements to project future stock needs or to recommend clearance strategies.  As appropriate, determine store goals and monitors store performance against these goals.
    • Participates in cross-functional comprehensive weekly business meetings.
    • Prepare comprehensive monthly hindsight recaps (department, style, size range) and present at monthly meeting and apply lessons learned toward framework for future deliveries and reaction to current business trends.
    • Develop a working knowledge of the concept of “average store (APS),” store attributes, store indices and weeks of supply and apply them to guiding the type of merchandise developed for stores, the development of unit buy quantities, allocation of merchandise, and monitoring of the business at the store level.
    • Travel to stores on a regular basis with their Allocator and Merchant to observe the work of their Allocators and the performance of their merchandise; to review markdown racks for future decisions on the purchase quantities of merchandise; to gain an understanding of the customer base, store layouts, fixturing and fixture quantities, and back stock space; and to foster a strong working relationship with the store teams.
    • Performs other duties related to the qualifications and requirements of the job.

    Qualifications

    Education:          

    Bachelor’s degree

    Experience:       

    5 -8 years of specialty retail experience with a minimum of 2 years as a Planner in Apparel or Accessories

    Skills:                    

     

    Strong analytical and financial skills

    Demonstrated team leadership

    Demonstrated knowledge of industry practices and current trends
